  • Bright Beginnings Academy was founded in 2013 by Mrs. Gina Englund, who now serves as the school director. The school began with a small group of students and teachers and quickly outgrew its first location and now exists at 3590 Pleasant Valley Road. Our program has grown in so many wonderful ways so we decided to change our name. We had our first beginnings as a dream, but now we see the life-changing results in our students. We are now Bright Academy specializing in Bright Dyslexics!

  • The vision of Bright Academy is to provide a place students look forward to coming to each day and learning in a Christian environment. Each child is unique in their abilities and challenged accordingly. Our goal is for the students to be successful and competent learners. At Bright Academy, the accent is on the positive, and it all takes place in a positive, Christian atmosphere.

Testimonials

I have enjoyed having my son attend Bright Academy. He has expressed many times how he has felt so loved and supported. He has also expressed how the teachers at Bright Academy, understand his situation and want to help him do his best in school. For me personally, I have never witnessed my son being this eager about wanting to go to school or about learning. He hates to be late, absent, or leave early. Because of Bright Academy, I have been able to see things in my son that I have never seen before and wondered if I ever would. The love and support that is given to students and parents has been amazing and uplifting. I not only love what this school has to offer academically, but I also love the fact that my son doesn’t have to tone down nor hide his love for God. He is open to share his love for God because even as a 9 year old kid, he is well aware that He is the one that has made all of this possible for him. We are so grateful to be given this opportunity, and we pray that many families will be afforded this same one. Thank you to the entire staff of Bright Academy who have worked so diligently with my son and for every ounce of the love and support that you have so freely given to me and my family.

Our son has attended Bright Academy for a few years now, and his abilities and self-esteem improved significantly after only a short time. The small classroom setting is exactly what our son needs to learn at his pace. Our son has dyslexia as well as other hindrances to learning. The teachers and staff work endlessly to help him achieve his full potential. We are forever indebted to Bright Academy for their hard work and sacrifice in helping our son learn.

My opinion of Bright Academy? The Lord has spoken to their hearts and set them on a mission to help these struggling children. Everyone goes above and beyond to help the children learn and have fun doing it. My child has just finished his first year but is more confident and reading much better already. He is excelling in every aspect of his life because of this school. He loves it and knows he can succeed. He has said that he is finally where he needs to be, and I totally agree. We are excited about what the future will bring with them as our guide. I tell everyone about this school and cannot rave enough about Bright Academy. THANK YOU!

Consistency, hard work and determination are essential to persevering and overcoming life’s obstacles. I have watched my daughter come out of her 2nd year in the 1st grade not being able to identify all of the alphabet and thinking she would never learn to read, to being able to read anything you put in front of her. She is thriving in school and believing she can accomplish anything she sets out to do! I cannot thank the staff at Bright Academy enough for having the passion and skill to nurture and inspire children with dyslexia to believe in themselves and blossom to their potential. At the end of the day, it is up to each of us to bloom where we are planted and do the best we can everyday. My daughter has done that the last 4 years while attending Bright Academy. No matter what cards we are dealt in life, we can do a little better, work a little harder, help a little more, and thank God for the opportunities before us!

Her confidence grew, and she became more of a social butterfly. Her reading comprehension became much easier. Makenzie's Story:

After struggling in a local private school, her 1st grade teacher, Gina Englund, approached Makenzie's parents requesting to have Makenzie as her first student in a new school she was starting for kids who are Dyslexic. Makenzie's parents were thankful for this opportunity. In the fall of 2013, Makenzie started at Bright Academy. As a 2nd grader, Makenzie grew tremendously as she gained confidence in herself. Over the next several years, Bright Academy helped Makenzie learn how to recognize her strengths. She was equipped with skills that have helped her learn and adapt to different learning situations. Over the years, Makenzie has realized that being Dyslexic isn't something to be ashamed of or even try to hide. In fact, she is proud to be Dyslexic. To her, being Dyslexic makes her stronger. She has learned to overcome various obstacles and work through tough situations. She has also learned that there is so much more to people than how they "learn." Makenzie graduated in May of 2024 from Liberty Online Academy and is now flourishing as a Freshman at Harding University. Makenzie is always encouraging others to see the best in themselves. She says that it isn't what you don't know that you should focus on, but what you do know. Focus on your strengths and don't be afraid to be different!
