Mrs. Gina Englund – Founder & Director

Mrs. Gina Englund earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Alabama in 1986. With a strong passion for education, she has taught in both public and private school systems for many years. During her career, she has served on Building Leadership Teams and Accreditation Teams, and was honored as Teacher of the Year in both 1994 and 2006.

Her passion for helping struggling readers—particularly children with dyslexia—led her to pursue specialized training. She earned her Dyslexia Therapist certification from William Carey University and, in 2013, founded Bright Beginnings Academy, a school dedicated to supporting dyslexic learners. As Founder and Director, Mrs. Gina has created a nurturing and effective environment where students can thrive.

Her dedication and impact have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Golden Apple Award in 2018 and WorldStrides’ Teacher of the Year in 2019.

Today, Mrs. Gina continues to lead Bright Academy with vision and compassion. She serves as Vice President of the Alabama Branch of the International Dyslexia Association and is a member of the AISA Accreditation Team. In addition, she works as a Qualified Instructor (QI), training experienced educators to become certified Dyslexia Therapists—further extending her mission to empower and support students with dyslexia across the region.

In her personal time, Mrs. Gina enjoys being outdoors, boating, and spending time with her family—especially her grandchildren, who bring her tremendous joy.
